Saint Stephen's The Sacred Heart Society for Vocations is the newest of our ministries.

A vocation is God's invitation to love and serve Him and His Church in a particular state or way of life, leading to holiness. The work of the Sacred Heart Society of Vocations Ministry is to pray and to develop uplifting, encouraging and educational activities that create a fruitful environment so that God can plant the seed and the Holy Spirit can water that seed in the hears of individuals.

Our Mission is to help all parishioners discern God's will in their lives regardless of the vocation. As our ministry focuses on these goals, over time vocations will increase by God's grace incuding more seminarians, religious men and women in formation, and sacramental marriages. Our group is part of the greater Newark Archdiocesan Ministry (www.newarkpriest.com). This ministry sponsors various initiatives, including Rosary for Vocations every third Sunday and the Vocations Corner as linked below.

The short term goal is to raise awareness of the need for vocations through prayer and continued education. It is vitally important that the people of the parish understand how they can have an impact on the lives of individuals being called to the priesthood, religious life, sacramental marriage, and holy single life vocations.
