Father Washington - Four Chaplains Scholarship Award
The Father Washington-Four Chaplains Scholarship Fund has been established to provide assistance to students from our parish who desire to attend a Catholic high school and meet specific criteria, especially in areas of leadership and service. Donations to the scholarship fund are made by parishioners and friends of Saint Stephen's Church who foster Catholic education for future generations and want to continue the legacy of the Immortal Four Chaplains.
A committee of three persons with connections to Father Washington review applications and make the selection. Father Washington has set an example for us in his love of education, his leadership, his faith and his service to God and man.
While his selflessness on that fateful day cannot be measured, it can be emulated. Recipients of the scholarship award will be chosen with this in mind.
Applications are submitted in April. On or about May 30th of each year, the Scholarship Award Ceremony follows the Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Monument of the Four Chaplains, on the grounds of Saint Stephen's Church.
Watch the website for the application process to begin in March of each year.
